  • 4 new plugins that can be used for free including Jetpack Protect, Jetpack Boost, Jetpack Social, and Jetpack CRM
  • 2 plugins that have a cost namely Jetpack Backup and Jetpack Search

The Jetpack WordPress plugin, created by Automattic (the parent company of WordPress.com), has recently undergone a major update. Automattic announced that Jetpack, used by over 5 million people, is now available as 6 separate plugins instead of a single All-In-One plugin. This will allow users to choose the plugins they need without having to install everything. Here’s a detailed look. For those who have never used the Jetpack plugin or are still considering it, read on in this article. Ready? Let’s get started.

Jetpack: A Versatile Plugin

Jetpack is a plugin that combines various features for marketers in one place. Importantly, this plugin is developed directly by the WordPress development team, so you can rest assured about optimization issues or stability on your website.

Whether it’s website security, data backup, website performance improvement, or features that help with social network management, all can be used on Jetpack. One advantage is that Jetpack was originally an All-In-One feature that combined many great features into one plugin. However, this strength has also been seen as one of its weaknesses, because not everyone needs an All-In-One plugin. Another main problem is that installing unused plugins can increase website latency unnecessarily.

Jetpack Can Now Be Used Separately

After incorporating all features into a single plugin for a long time, Automattic has recently announced an important acknowledgment of the shortcomings in the All-In-One approach. They stated, “We have received numerous complaints from both developers and website owners regarding the desire for greater flexibility in using the Jetpack plugin to improve the overall WordPress user experience.”

The key point of this announcement is that the Jetpack plugin will be split into 6 parts, allowing developers and website owners to select the plugins they need without having to install everything as before. The plugins will be divided as follows:

Details of Each Jetpack Plugin

There are various Jetpack plugins to choose from according to your needs. This latest update can be divided into 6 plugins as follows:

Jetpack Backup

Regardless of the size of your website, investing in a plugin for database backups is definitely a worthwhile thing to do. Jetpack is a proven backup plugin with a usage record of up to 269 million backups over the past 10 years. The standout features of Jetpack Backup are:

  • Easy to use with just a few clicks
  • Can restore data from anywhere, even from mobile apps (Jetpack Mobile App)
  • Can restore data even when the website is offline
  • No knowledge of web development is required

Jetpack Protect

Jetpack Protect is a plugin that provides website security by being able to scan other plugins and themes every day to identify malware or spam issues. It will notify you immediately if your website has vulnerabilities so you can fix them.

Jetpack Boost

Many website owners often have headaches with website performance. Jetpack Boost will respond to the work in various aspects, such as:

  • Website performance check You can check the Mobile Score and Desktop Score for improvements to adapt to different devices.
  • SEO improvement Website performance is one of the important factors of SEO ranking. Therefore, when website performance improves, the SEO ranking and traffic on the website will increase accordingly.
  • Website speed acceleration By reducing CSS structure problems (loading only what is necessary), unnecessary JavaScript, and featuring lazy loading modules for images on the website

Always keep in mind when developing a website that “even a delay of just 1 second can reduce conversion rates by up to 20%.”

Jetpack Social

The Jetpack Social Media feature will assist in posting various content to different social media channels, supporting platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and LinkedIn.

Jetpack Search

Jetpack Search is a plugin that will help customize your website to help people find information or content more easily and stay longer on your website.

Jetpack CRM

The Jetpack CRM plugin will be a plugin that gathers all the tools used in the CRM process to enhance the potential of business growth, whether it’s checking various indicators, managing sales channels, and features that help manage customers with various Management Portals, such as issuing invoices, payment systems, and others.

However, for anyone who is still accustomed to using the Jetpack plugin in the All-In-One version, don’t worry because Automattic still confirms that the Jetpack plugin in the All-In-One version will still be usable as is, just in the future each plugin may be pulled out and sold separately like this change.
