At the recent The MarTech Conference, Shachar Radin Shomrat, CMO of Deepcrawl, a Technical SEO platform, commented on SEO that “Currently, achieving good SEO results, such as increased Organic Traffic, is not limited to simply choosing keywords or the content of your content alone, but depends on technical adjustments in other parts of the website as well.

First of all, let’s explain what Technical SEO is. It is an SEO approach focused on technically improving the infrastructure of a website (similar to On-Page SEO, but not related to managing internal website content) to allow search engine algorithms to efficiently search or collect information to create page indexing. In addition to helping algorithms see the various structures more easily, it also helps visitors have a better experience. If SEO Specialists don’t dedicate enough time to adjusting various parts to improve website performance, it can lead to excessive and unpredictable user experience losses. This article will reveal 4 Technical SEO tips that, when implemented, will help increase Organic Traffic for free.

1. Optimize Website Structure

Shomrat said, “Structure is the foundation.” This statement is not an exaggeration at all. The process of structuring a website is an important consideration for SEO professionals before starting work on other areas. Then comes the question: Who is the reader? How can you define content so that both people and Search Engines can understand it easily? This is something that every SEO Specialist must carefully consider when optimizing website structure. The recommendation is to try creating a Sitemap or an overall structure blueprint to understand where this information should be located and which pages are connected to each other, so that Search Engine algorithms and the general public can understand it as much as possible.

2. Check Every Page Before it Reaches Google Crawler

Google Crawler is the algorithm of the Google Search Engine that collects various data of websites to rank them. Therefore, adjusting website pages correctly to avoid errors or error codes is one of the first necessities. You might try checking that you haven’t accidentally used commands like robot.txt (a command to prevent web pages from being excluded from Google’s algorithm) on some important pages that affect ranking, or accidentally used Disallow commands that prevent the algorithm from collecting data on that page.

3. Review Indexing Process

This step is similar to the previous one. Because in the process of collecting information to rank, Google Crawler releases a bot that will screen pages that have been indexed. If any website does not perform this step, it means that there will be no information appearing in Google’s database, which will directly affect the ranking of the website’s pages.

4. Improve “Page Experience”

If a website cannot deliver a good experience to users, it can lead to a decrease in Organic Traffic. Problems such as slow-loading webpages or webpages with malware pop-ups (indicating insecurity) will become key factors that immediately reduce the visibility of the general user by Google’s algorithm. Shomrat also had an interesting comment on this matter, saying, “If you don’t care about or plan to fix these basic issues, even if you invest in creating content that can impact a large number of people or invest in using expensive keywords, don’t expect to get good results back.

Why is Technical SEO Important?

Giving importance to the technical quality of a website is a crucial factor for the results of SEO. As Shomrat said at the end of this conference, “Having a good technical foundation on the website will help improve Search Engine ranking and provide an excellent experience for everyone who visits.
