Every year, Google holds its annual software developer conference called the Google I/O Conference, where it launches many new products or features that often excite people in the technology and marketing fields. Similarly, at last year’s event, one feature was a highlight for brands and marketers: the Video Page Indexing Report feature, which has been launched on Google Search Console, a popular tool for marketers worldwide.

Of course, to make marketers’ work easier in tracking videos that Google Bot has indexed (If you’re wondering what Google Indexing is, read this article), Google has added this new dataset to Google Search Console. For those with experience using Search Console, you already know that if you want to view video reports in Search Console, you can only view reports related to the number of video impressions. But with this latest update, users will be able to check the indexing status of videos immediately. Let’s take a look at the details.

The “Video Page Indexing Report” Function

When indexing a video, Google Bot first checks the landing page where the video appears. Then, when Google detects a video on the landing page, it starts extracting important information about the video and uses it in the function that Google has added. This summarizes various information into a video indexing report on the landing page. Users can immediately check how many landing pages on the website have been indexed by Google Bot. This summary report shows the details of the URL list of the various landing pages that have been checked by Google Bot, and users can download this list and recheck it.

Google states that this function will help marketers work more conveniently in narrowing down the details of problems and understanding what issues have arisen and how to fix them. In addition, after making corrections, you can click the Validate Fix button to notify Google’s system that the problem has been resolved.

How to Check the Status of Indexed Videos

To check the status of indexed videos, you can enter the URL of the landing page into the URL Inspection Tool.

Then, there will be a list of statuses for the links entered. You can immediately see whether a video has been detected on that URL and whether the video has been indexed. Remember that Google will index only 1 video per landing page.

Conclusion

With the new function that Google has added, users will be able to:
