TL;DR

  • Clarity simulation assessments report whether a supported agent (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic operators) completed a task, time taken, interactions needed and fixes, starting with commerce and travel.
  • Ask Clarity answers plain-language questions with links to session recordings; it is a closed beta for retailers with a waitlist, and 14 of 16 surveyed early users said it surfaced something new.
  • Brand Agents can now show eligible WooCommerce and Shopify products in Copilot, Bing and MSN, and book local-business appointments via tools such as Square, Jobber, HubSpot and Calendly.
  • Microsoft says weekly AI-agent sessions nearly doubled in three weeks to almost 2 million; Clarity remains free, and eligibility rules and countries for Brand Agents are not stated.

Microsoft Clarity added three things on 4 November 2026: simulation assessments that test whether AI agents can finish key tasks on a website, Ask Clarity, a plain-language question tool now in closed beta for retailers, and an expansion of Brand Agents into product discovery across Microsoft Copilot, Bing and MSN plus appointment booking for local businesses. Microsoft also said weekly sessions from AI agents nearly doubled in three weeks to almost 2 million.

The announcement was published on the Microsoft Clarity blog by Nabil Naghdy, director of product management at Microsoft AI, and summarised the same day on the Microsoft Advertising blog. This article sets out what is actually new compared with the Clarity study Relevant Audience covered on 2 November, and what Microsoft did not say.

What is new compared with the 2 November coverage

Relevant Audience's 2 November article covered a separate Clarity blog study, published on 29 October 2026, which compared the Smart Events recorded in AI-agent sessions with those in human sessions, and the general availability of the Agent Activity Dashboard. That post noted only in passing that "simulations" could help ecommerce and travel sites. The 4 November announcement fills in that piece and adds two features that were not part of the earlier post.

Microsoft groups the update around what it calls three eras of the web: people browsing a website, people asking AI for recommendations, and agents acting for people. Agentic Analytics covers the first group of agent features, Brand Agents covers AI discovery, and Ask Clarity covers analysis of human behaviour on the site. The Microsoft Advertising summary calls the question feature "Conversational Analytics"; the Clarity blog calls it Ask Clarity.

Simulation assessments: testing whether agents can finish a task

The Agent Activity dashboard shows how agentic traffic changes over time, which agents visit a site and what they do once there. Microsoft lists searches, form submissions, logins, downloads, appointment bookings and checkout among the actions it tracks. That part was already covered on 2 November.

Simulation assessments are the new layer. Microsoft says they let a site owner test how well agents complete important tasks on the website "before a real customer journey fails." Each simulation reports four things:

  • whether the task was completed
  • how long it took
  • how many interactions it needed
  • where the experience could be improved

Microsoft is starting with commerce and travel scenarios and says it plans to add more types of customer journeys over time. A footnote says the agents supported for Agentic Analytics at this time are Google, OpenAI and Anthropic agent operators.

The reason Microsoft gives for building this is practical. An agent might find the right product but miss a promotion, or reach checkout and get stuck, and the business may lose the customer without knowing why. A simulation is a way to find that failure before a real agent hits it. The blog does not explain how a simulation is configured, which steps of a journey it covers, or how results compare between agent providers.

The agent traffic figure

Microsoft opened the announcement with a growth number: in a recent Clarity analysis, weekly sessions from AI agents nearly doubled in three weeks to almost 2 million. The footnote ties this to the same dataset as the earlier study: 5.23 million agentic sessions across 230,511 projects between 13 August and 9 September 2026, with agents detected from OpenAI, Google and Anthropic. The 29 October study described the same growth as 88% in three weeks. The new post adds the absolute level, close to 2 million weekly sessions, which the earlier study did not give. It still does not name which three weeks, or say whether the growth came from more sites receiving agents or more agent visits per site.

Ask Clarity: questions in plain language, answers tied to recordings

Ask Clarity lets a user put a question about the business or the website to Clarity in plain language. Microsoft says it analyses the site's data "much like an analyst would": it explores possible explanations, tests them against the evidence, works out what is happening, recommends a next step and links each finding to the relevant session recordings so the user can check it. For now the feature focuses on on-site behavioural data: session recordings, heatmaps, funnels, events and similar signals.

Microsoft's example is a store whose European shoppers convert worse than other regions. The owner suspects price. Ask Clarity tests that idea against visitor behaviour and might surface something else, such as untranslated pages or a delivery option that works in only one market.

Microsoft says it plans to add more use cases and data sources, including AI Visibility and advertising data. It gives no date for that.

The supporting figure is small. Microsoft says 88% of surveyed early-access users reported discovering something new about their business or website. The footnote shows that is 14 of 16 participants, from an early-access feedback survey run in July and August 2026. That is a satisfaction signal from 16 early-access users, not a measure of accuracy.

Ask Clarity is in closed beta for retailers. Businesses that want to try it have to join a waitlist.

Brand Agents: product discovery in Copilot and booking for local businesses

Brand Agents began as a shopping assistant that a merchant places on its own website. Microsoft says it is grounded in the live product catalog, shipping and return policies and brand voice. Two changes were announced.

Products in Microsoft's AI experiences

For eligible WooCommerce and Shopify merchants, products can now appear across Microsoft Copilot, Bing, MSN "and more" when shoppers ask AI for recommendations. The shopper discovers the product there and completes the purchase on the merchant's own website. Merchants who already have Brand Agents installed need no extra catalog upload or configuration. During setup, a merchant can choose to run the on-site assistant, or use Brand Agents only to get products shown in Microsoft's AI experiences.

Local businesses and appointment booking

Brand Agents now extends to local businesses. On the business's site, the agent can explain what the business offers, find the right service and offer to book it. Microsoft's example is a visitor asking for help with a leaking pipe under a kitchen sink. The agent connects to booking and scheduling tools including Square, Jobber, HubSpot, Calendly, Housecall Pro and Salesforce, so it can capture leads and schedule appointments directly. Microsoft says eligible WordPress businesses can start now by installing Clarity, choosing "Clarity with Brand Agents", publishing the agent and connecting a supported CRM.

Availability and price

The Clarity blog says the new capabilities are "available globally to all our users," and that Clarity is free. That statement needs reading alongside the specific limits in the same post. Ask Clarity is a closed beta for retailers behind a waitlist. Brand Agents product discovery is for "eligible" WooCommerce and Shopify merchants, and the local business version for "eligible" WordPress businesses. Microsoft does not define eligibility in the post. Simulation assessments start with commerce and travel only.

What Microsoft did not say

  • How eligibility for Brand Agents product discovery is decided, or whether it varies by country or language.
  • Which markets Copilot, Bing and MSN show Brand Agents products in.
  • Whether Brand Agents product discovery has a cost. The post says Clarity is free but does not price Brand Agents separately.
  • How simulation assessments are set up, or which agent model each simulation uses.
  • When Ask Clarity will open beyond the retail closed beta, or when AI Visibility and advertising data will be added.
  • Any accuracy measure for Ask Clarity's answers.

What to check on your own site

  1. If Clarity is already installed, open the Agent Activity dashboard and see whether your site receives agent sessions at all, and which actions they reach.
  2. For commerce or travel sites, look for simulation assessments in your Clarity project and run one on your most valuable journey, such as checkout or a booking form.
  3. If you run a retail site and want Ask Clarity, join the waitlist. Treat its answers as leads to check against the linked recordings, which is how Microsoft presents them.
  4. If you sell on WooCommerce or Shopify, check whether your store is eligible for Brand Agents product discovery, and decide whether you want the on-site assistant or discovery only.
  5. Keep agent sessions separate from human sessions in your own reporting. Clarity's earlier study warned that agentic sessions can include human handoffs it cannot split out.

Clarity data works best next to your main analytics setup rather than instead of it. A GA4 setup and migration review is a good point to decide how agent traffic is labelled across both tools.

What this means for Thai marketers

Clarity is free, and the blog says the new capabilities are "available globally to all our users." The same post says Ask Clarity is a closed beta for retailers and does not define who is eligible for Brand Agents. It gives no country list and does not mention Thailand. Microsoft gives no Thailand-specific figures, so there is no data here on how much agent traffic Thai sites receive.

The Brand Agents part is less clear for Thailand. Microsoft does not say which countries' shoppers see Brand Agents products in Copilot, Bing or MSN, and Bing's share of search in Thailand is not discussed in the post. Thai WooCommerce and Shopify stores can check eligibility, but should not plan around Copilot as a sales channel until Microsoft confirms where it runs.

The broader point for Thai brands is that AI agents and AI assistants are becoming a measurable audience. Whether an agent can complete a checkout, and whether an AI assistant recommends your product, are now things a free tool tries to measure. That ties directly to generative engine optimization (GEO): making a site readable and usable for AI systems, not only for people. For online stores, the agent checkout test belongs on the same list as page speed and payment options in an ecommerce marketing plan.

Frequently asked questions

What are Clarity simulation assessments?

They are tests that check whether supported AI agents can complete important tasks on your site, reporting completion, time taken, number of interactions and areas to improve. Microsoft is starting with commerce and travel scenarios, and the supported agents are Google, OpenAI and Anthropic agent operators.

Can I use Ask Clarity now?

Only if you get into the closed beta, which is for retailers and has a waitlist. Microsoft has not given a date for wider access.

Is Microsoft Clarity still free?

Yes, Microsoft's 4 November post says Clarity is free. It does not give separate pricing for Brand Agents.

Will Brand Agents put my Thai store's products in Copilot?

Not stated: Microsoft says eligible WooCommerce and Shopify merchants' products can appear in Copilot, Bing and MSN, but it does not define eligibility or list the countries where this works. Check eligibility in Clarity before planning around it.

How is this different from the Clarity agent study published in late October?

The 29 October study compared what agent sessions and human sessions do on websites and announced the Agent Activity Dashboard. The 4 November update adds simulation assessments, Ask Clarity and the Brand Agents expansion, plus an absolute traffic figure of almost 2 million weekly agent sessions.
