Snapchat on Desktop
Users of the desktop Snapchat version will be able to use various features similarly to the mobile app, including chatting and using the webcam and microphone for full-fledged video calls. Lens features will also be available in the future.
However, features such as uploading content to stories are not yet available on the desktop version.
How to Use Snapchat Desktop Version
To use the Snapchat desktop version, you need to subscribe to Snapchat Plus first. Currently, it is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. You can use the Free Trial or 7-day free trial when signing up. You can then start using the service immediately through this website. Users in Thailand may have to wait for updates in the future.
As mentioned earlier, Snapchat has never offered a desktop version before, which differs from other platforms that focus on mobile but also provide a desktop version for users who want it, such as Instagram and TikTok.
The main reason for this decision may be the pressure Snapchat is under from its parent company, Snap, due to the inability to meet revenue targets, causing the company’s stock price to drop by 43% in May. This has become a key reason for launching Snapchat Plus and other additional features to encourage more user engagement, similar to Twitter, Telegram, and Discord, which have launched premium apps with additional charges to target more professional users. It will be interesting to see if other major platforms will join in.
