Adding Ads to Profile Feed and Explore Feed
According to the latest announcement, Instagram has decided to add two ads on the platform in the Profile and Explore pages. For the first part, the profile feed page, simply put, if a user wants to view another user’s profile picture, whose profile is set to public and is over 18 years old, they will have a greater chance of encountering ads along the way. In the Explore page, it’s the familiar function tab, mostly used to search for content you want to see or new products. In this update, Instagram will insert sponsored posts with the message “Sponsored” as shown in the example image below.
Furthermore, Instagram also announced that it is currently testing a feature to share additional revenue with creators who allow advertising through the profile feed. However, this feature is still an experiment, starting with a few creators in the United States only.
Multi-Advertiser Ads Feature
In addition to adding advertising points on the platform, Instagram is also updating various features to support advertising on the platform conveniently for brands and marketers. For the Multi-Advertiser Ads feature, after watching an ad, the platform will analyze and present a new ad that is more compatible, adding it to the You might like section, allowing users to click to view various ads.
AR Ads Feature
With Spark AR technology, which has been continuously developed by Facebook, in this update, Instagram aims to provide users with an AR advertising experience that can interact with their surroundings. Currently, it is still in beta version testing only.
