  • You must not have a history of repeatedly violating Twitter’s terms of service
  • Your Twitter user account must have complete profile details, including your account name (Account Name), bio (Bio), and profile picture (Profile Picture)
  • The information on your profile must be clear and not use false information with the purpose of deceiving others

For Twitter users who are brands or creators, you’re likely familiar with the Twitter Professional feature. Twitter has made this feature accessible to users worldwide since October 2021, stating that “this feature is suitable for users who are brands or creators looking to start a business on the Twitter platform.”

Of course, users who have tried this feature will find that they can access various features designed by Twitter, such as the Advanced Profile or Promotional Tools. All of these are available for free, with no additional charges. In this article, Relevant Audience will teach you how to use the Twitter Professional feature.

Getting Started with Twitter Professional

First, make sure you meet the requirements for using this feature. Twitter has set three criteria before you can start:

If you meet all three criteria, let’s get started.

Step One

Click on Twitter for Professionals. You will then see a pop-up displaying important information about using the feature. Click Agree & Continue.

Step Two

In the next step, a page will appear asking you to choose from more than 30 categories. Be sure to select the one that best describes your brand’s profile, as it will also appear on your public profile.

Step Three

In this step, you will choose the type of user account – either Business or Creator. Don’t worry if you haven’t decided yet, as Twitter allows you to change it later. We recommend choosing a Business account if you intend to manage a page for a brand, business, or organization.

Once this step is completed, you can start using Twitter Professional. After that, the Twitter system will prompt you to do the following:

Customize Your Profile

Twitter states that Twitter Professional profiles will differ from the original ones to make it easier for consumers to contact brands directly. However, if you use Twitter Pro, Twitter will allow you to edit the category and display it on your public profile.

Choose Engaging Categories

In this step, you will select interesting topics to follow news from Twitter users related to those categories. There are three options to choose from:

  • Followed

This will allow the Twitter system to process data from your account, whether it’s from tweets, activities, or ads you like.

  • Suggested

If you choose this option, the Twitter system will display more than 15 interesting categories for you to choose from.

  • Not Interested

If you don’t want the system to display categories, click on the ‘Not Interested’ heading.

Promote Your Tweets

It should be noted that promoting campaigns in the Twitter Professional feature is still somewhat limited compared to using Twitter Ads directly. However, the usage method is not complicated. Simply select the tweet you want to promote, and the system will ask what your goal is (increase engagement, increase followers, or increase clicks). Then, the system will allow you to customize your target audience based on various data such as age, location, gender, and specify a budget and promotion period. Finally, sit back and wait for the results.

It’s understandable that the Twitter Professional feature was developed for business use that doesn’t require complex operations. It has been improved to create a slight difference from regular user accounts. However, if marketers or brands want to do serious online marketing, they may have to wait for further function updates from Twitter.
