Many Twitter users may want to look back at their old tweets from last year or longer, but scrolling through the feed can be time-consuming and frustrating. As mentioned, many people struggle to find old tweets from important moments in the past. But did you know? Twitter has a search function designed for those with nostalgic feelings. Therefore, in this article, we will introduce techniques for searching for old tweets using the Advanced Search feature. We guarantee that anyone who is longing for their past can try it immediately.

How to Use the Advanced Search Feature

The Advanced Search feature is specifically designed to search for tweets. This feature can only be used on the Twitter web browser, not on mobile apps. If anyone wants to try this feature, go to the Advanced Search Page.

Then, the Advanced Search window will appear as shown in the example above. Then, add various details of the tweet you want to search for. You can search broadly by adding a date range or a specific date.

In addition to searching for tweets by date, there are other options to help narrow down your search, such as:

  • Choose to view the engagement count that occurred on the tweet (e.g., minimum number of replies, likes, or retweets)

Example of Using Advanced Search

Let’s look at an example of using the Advanced Search feature. Let’s start by going back to see the first tweet published by Search Engine Journal. Start by entering the account name you want to search for.

Then, try entering the date range you want to see old tweets. In this case, we will test by using the date of the first Twitter registration until the end of the year to see all the tweets that occurred during the first year of the account.

Now, let’s look at the results.

Or, if you want to know the engagement information in case you need to analyze or plan marketing, you can do so. Start by going to the Advanced Search page, then enter the account you want to search for.

In the Engagement section, enter the information you want. In this case, it is a minimum like count of 100.

Then, when you press search, Twitter will display all tweets that meet the specified criteria, as seen in the example in the picture below. Also, after each press of the search button, a formula will appear in the search bar. This is another small tip for anyone who wants to search quickly and use it both on computers and mobile phones. Just change the numbers or account names and you can use it immediately (this method works with all formulas).

For anyone who wonders how many people in the Twitterverse have their old tweets dug up and hung, I guess you know the answer now. However, please keep in mind personal rights in any case, otherwise, it may lead to problems that may require time and money to go to court.
