Google Updates Responsive Display Ad Serving

Responsive Display Ads are one of the popular ad formats for marketers to run campaigns because of their simplicity and convenience. By simply entering image data, headline data, and description data, the system will automatically process and use the input data to create various ad formats.

After its launch in 2018, it has become increasingly popular among marketers. Currently, Google is constantly improving this feature, and the time has come for a significant change to provide a better experience for mobile users. What interesting changes are there? Let’s see together.

It’s Time for Portrait Images and Videos

For marketers concerned about ad display on mobile screens, this is no longer a problem. Google has updated the creation of Responsive Display Ads (RDA) to allow the selection of portrait images or videos. This improves ad display on mobile devices. Previously, it was well known that creating RDA ads to display on mobile required only horizontal images or square images. Therefore, this new update will help advertisers control the display of images or videos on mobile phones more conveniently than before.

Create AI Vertical Videos

This feature utilizes Google’s Machine Learning system to create vertical videos for Responsive Display Ads campaigns to improve display on mobile screens. Google claims that “this vertical video creation will use intelligent Machine Learning to assist in design and result in ads that can attract people more.”

Uncropping Technology

This Uncropping feature is designed for creating Responsive Display Ads. Many marketers use images that do not meet the standard size, which can sometimes cause errors in the final steps. Google will use Machine Learning to help improve the image by expanding the background image area.

As seen in the example above, the image on the left is an image that has not been processed with Uncropping technology, while the image on the right is an image that has been Uncropped. You can see that the Uncropped image has a more dimensional look, improving display on mobile screens.

Find Inspiration Through Creative Inspiration

If anyone needs inspiration for creating ads, Google has a Creative Inspiration tool that is like a creative thinking warehouse to help filter ads from all over the world. Users can use the Filter function to filter “Ad Format” as needed.
