Google has announced 9 additional requirements for the “Three Strike System” on Google Ads. Brands or marketers who use Google Ads as their primary tool may already be familiar with the “Three-Strike System” that Google launched last year. In this latest update, Google has decided to add 9 requirements to prevent violations of regulations related to the design of inappropriate advertising campaigns, such as using clickbait ad formats or designing ads that mislead users. What is the Three Strike System?

The Three-Strike System is a system to prevent violations of Google’s advertising policies that has been officially available since September 2021. The process works as follows:

During the temporary suspension of a user account, the user will receive an email indicating the various issues and must resolve those issues to inform Google immediately.

What are the 9 Additional Requirements?

For this latest update, Google stated that if marketers or brands violate any of the following advertising policies, it may result in the user account entering the Three Strike System immediately. The new added requirements are detailed as follows:

  1. Advertising services for prostitution (Compensated Sexual Acts)
  2. Advertising services for mail-order brides (Mail-Order Brides)
  3. Clickbait advertising
  4. Advertising designs that mislead users (Misleading Ads Design)
  5. Advertising bail bond services
  6. Advertising call directories and forwarding services
  7. Advertising credit repair services
  8. Advertising for Binary Options (a type of speculative market)
  9. Advertising personal loan services

This latest update to the requirements will take effect from June 21, 2022. For brands and marketers who rely on Google Ads, it is essential to know how each policy update from Google changes or what new additions there are, in order to avoid problems that may cause trouble for user accounts in the future.
