In SEO, many people probably know that Google doesn’t like duplicate content (Duplicated content) or content that has been slightly modified because Google will not rank that information. Moreover, your content may be seen as Spam and visibility may be reduced immediately. Therefore, limiting the possibility of duplicate content to the minimum is something that all marketers must do. In this article, Relevant Audience will reveal 4 secrets that Google doesn’t tell you about Duplicated Content.

1. Try Changing Domains with a 301 Redirect

If you want to avoid having duplicate content on your website so that Google can’t catch you, doing a 301 Redirect is considered one of the popular techniques of experienced marketers. Because when we redirect to a new URL, after a period of time, Google’s ranking processing will be replaced with a clean slate.

2. Link Equity Must Be Used Wisely

Creating links to overcome competitors in the digital market, or what marketers call ‘Link Equity’, is a good way to add value to one website by linking it to another website. But if you accidentally link equity to duplicate content, Google will definitely reduce the ranking of your website immediately. You can avoid this with Canonicalization techniques or even doing a 301 Redirect as mentioned above, which is also a good option.

3. URLs Can Also Be Duplicate

Slight variations in the URL format can also cause Google to identify that you are using duplicate content.

For example,

https://example.com/article/” and “https://example.com/article/?page=1

Even though the latter URL is just a Print-Friendly Version, the solution is simply to adjust it in the Header of your website, add a Canonical Tag so that Google knows which URL contains the same content and to prevent it from being mixed up with data aggregation for ranking. This will solve the problem of duplicate URLs.

4. ’Boilerplate’ Is Best Separated

In this context, boilerplate content refers to copyright notices or legal liability disclaimers. Because when your content appears these messages, Google will consider this to be duplicate content immediately! Of course, the solution is that you may write a short legal disclaimer for each of your contents and link to the full legal document. Because Google has a way of handling this finished command automatically.
