Highlights of the Article

In 2023, advertising on Twitter, or Twitter Ads, remains another channel for brands and marketers to choose. It’s worth noting that over the past 2-3 years, Twitter has become a social media platform with broad appeal to users from Gen Z to middle-aged groups, which are the primary target audiences for many brands today.

Recently, Twitter launched a new ad format called Search Keyword Ads, which the company claims will help brands and marketers reach more people. Let’s explore the details together.

What Advertising Formats are Available on Twitter?

For new marketers who are considering starting to advertise on Twitter, let’s first take a look at the different advertising formats available on Twitter. This will help you understand which format is most suitable for your advertising campaign:

  • Promoted Ads – This is the most basic advertising format that many people are likely familiar with. It looks like a regular user tweet, whether it’s text, images, or videos. The only difference is the “Promoted by…” label, indicating that it’s an advertisement.
  • Follower Ads – This Twitter advertising format focuses on promoting Twitter accounts to target audiences to build brand awareness. It is labeled with the word “Promoted” to indicate that it’s an advertisement.
  • Twitter Amplify – This advertising format helps users access brands more easily through an algorithm that matches ads with video content, even if it’s not a post from the brand itself.
  • Twitter Takeover – This is a premium advertising format that appears in the Timeline and Explore sections, allowing brands to reach the most users.
  • Twitter Live – This advertising format allows users to watch content in real time, expanding reach to interested and following users.
  • Dynamic Product Ads – This advertising format helps brands present products and services that are most relevant to target audiences at the most appropriate time.
  • Collection Ads – This advertising format groups content together, focusing on storytelling through the display of images in the collection.
  • Twitter Ad Features – This advertising format is displayed in various features of Twitter, such as Polls, Conversation Buttons, App Buttons, Website Buttons, Branded Hashtags, and Branded Notifications.

“Search Keywords Ads” – A New Advertising Format on Twitter

On January 25th, the Twitter Business account announced the launch of a new advertising format called “Search Keyword Ads” in beta version. This advertising format is similar to Promoted Ads, allowing brands or marketers to reach users who are searching in the Search Result or search page, just like other advertising formats. All advertisements will have the “Promoted” label to distinguish them from regular tweets.

Concluding Remarks

This is another challenge for Twitter at the beginning of the year. It’s worth noting that Twitter has been facing various problems since the end of last year due to changes in management. One of these issues is advertising revenue, which has been steadily declining, leading to the gradual launch of features designed to attract brands and marketers to use Twitter Ads. We may soon see more new ad formats on Twitter.
