TL;DR
- Per Meta's Help Center, a Page is created on a computer via Pages, Create Page, Public Page, then a name and category; anyone with a Facebook account can do it.
- Page names may not use the word Facebook or Meta, a single general word, all capitals, symbols such as the registered mark, or 'official' unless the Page truly is official.
- Full control lets a person remove anyone, including the owner, and delete the Page, so give it to at least two trusted people and give staff partial or task access.
- Meta Business Suite is free and holds the Page, Instagram account and ad account in a business portfolio; ads still need an ad account, a payment method and Meta's ad review.
To create a Facebook Page on a computer, Meta's Help Center gives this path: log in to Facebook, click "Pages" in the left menu, click "Create Page", select "Public Page", enter the Page name and category, then click "Create Page". After that you add contact details, a profile picture, a cover photo and a call-to-action button. Anyone with a Facebook account can create a Page, and there is no charge to create one.
The parts that make a business Page actually usable come after you click create: a name that passes Meta's rules, the right category, safe admin access, and a connection to Meta Business Suite before you start running ads. This guide walks through each step in order. Facebook's button and menu labels change often and can differ between the mobile app and a computer, so treat the names below as a guide.
What is the difference between a Page and a profile?
A profile is a personal account tied to one real person. You use it to add friends, post personal updates and log in. A Page, as Meta describes it, is for businesses, brands, organisations and public figures. People can like or follow a Page without being friends with anyone.
One thing to understand from the start: a Page has no password of its own. You manage it through a profile that has been given Page access, or through tools such as Meta Business Suite. If the profile holding full control is locked or hacked, control of the Page is at risk too. That is why a Page should have more than one person with full control, which the next sections explain.
Using a personal profile instead of a Page to sell has clear limits. Facebook advertising runs in the name of a Page, and tools such as insights, the shared inbox and post scheduling in Meta Business Suite are built to work with Pages.
How to create a Facebook Page step by step (on a computer)
The sequence below follows Meta's help article on creating a Page.
- Log in to Facebook with your profile and click "Pages" in the left menu.
- Click "Create Page".
- Select "Public Page", then click "Next".
- Click "Get Started".
- Enter the Page name and choose a category.
- Add a description (bio) if you want, then click "Create Page".
- Add details such as contact information, location and business hours, then click "Next".
- Add a profile picture and cover photo and edit the call-to-action button, then click "Next".
- Connect WhatsApp to the Page, or click "Skip".
- Invite friends to connect with the Page, then click "Next".
- Choose your notification settings, then click "Done".
Steps 7 to 11 can be skipped and finished later, but do not leave them empty for long. A Page with no profile picture, no hours and no contact channel looks untrustworthy to someone who clicks through from an ad.
How to choose a Page name and category
The Page name is the first thing people see in their feed and in Facebook search results. Meta's guidelines for Page names are specific. A Page name must not contain:
- Terms or phrases that may be abusive or violate someone's rights.
- The word "official" if the Page is not the official Page of that brand, place, organisation or public figure.
- Improper capitalisation such as all capitals (except acronyms), symbols such as ®, or slogans and descriptions.
- Any variation of the word Facebook or Meta.
- A single general word, or a broad geographic name such as a city.
In practice, use the brand name customers know. If you have several branches and each has its own Page, use the brand name followed by the branch, for example "Example Shop Ari Branch" (a made-up name). Thai or English both work, but the name should match your shop sign and website so that people who search for the brand find the right Page.
You can change the name later. Someone with Facebook access to the Page switches into the Page and goes to Settings > Page setup > Name to request a change. People with only task access cannot request a name change. Changing the name does not affect the Page's username, and if the name was changed recently the option may not appear yet.
The category helps Facebook and users understand what the Page is about. Pick the category that describes your core business most accurately: type a keyword into the category field and choose from the list that appears, for example Thai restaurant, dental clinic or clothing store.
What to set up on your Page before running ads
If you will use the Page for advertising, check this list before spending the first baht.
| What to set up | Where (menu names may vary) | Why it comes before ads |
|---|---|---|
| Profile picture and cover photo | The Page itself, or the steps during Page creation | The Page's profile picture appears with every ad and every post |
| Contact details, location and hours | Edit Page details | People who click from an ad to the Page can find how to reach you at once |
| Call-to-action button | The Page, below the cover photo | Sets whether the main button is send message, call or visit website |
| At least two people with full control | Settings > Page setup > Page access | If one account is locked, the other can still manage the Page |
| Page connected to a business portfolio | Meta Business Suite > Settings | Keeps the Page, ad account and Instagram in one place |
Page access: full control, partial control and task access
According to Meta's Help Center, Page access comes in two main types. The first is Facebook access, which can be given with full control or partial control. A person with full control has the same power as you: they can give access to others, remove anyone from the Page including you, and delete the Page. Partial control covers day-to-day work such as content, messages, comments, ads and insights, but not settings or access management.
The second type is task access. People with task access can manage the Page from tools such as Meta Business Suite or Ads Manager, but cannot switch into the Page on Facebook. It suits people who only handle ads or only answer messages.
Only someone with full control can add people. The path Meta gives is Settings > Page setup > Page access, then click "Add new" next to People with Facebook access, click "Next" and type the person's name or email address. For partial control, scroll down and click "Give access"; for full control, select the option allowing the person full control before clicking "Give access". Confirm with your Facebook password. The person receives an email and must accept the invitation.
The rule worth following: give full control only to the business owner and at least two genuinely trusted people. Staff and outside ad managers get partial control or task access. When someone leaves the team, remove their access the same day.
Connecting your Page to Meta Business Suite
Meta Business Suite is Meta's free tool for managing a Facebook Page and an Instagram account from one place. According to Meta's Business Help Center, it lets you create and schedule posts, stories and reels, read and reply to messages and comments from your Page, Messenger and Instagram in one inbox, review insights, and create ads or boost posts.
The core of the setup is the business portfolio, a container for business assets such as a Facebook Page, an Instagram account and an ad account, together with the people who have access to each one. Adding a Page to a portfolio makes the business the owner of that Page. People who already had access to the Page before it was added keep that access.
The overall steps are as follows (menu names may differ by version):
- Open Meta Business Suite with a profile that has full control of the business portfolio.
- If you do not have a business portfolio yet, create one by following the prompts.
- Go to Settings, choose Accounts > Pages, and add your Page.
- Connect the business's Instagram account. Anyone with Facebook access or task access to the Page can connect it to an Instagram account.
- To give someone access, go to Settings, select People, choose a person already added to the portfolio, click "Assign assets", pick the Page, then choose full control or partial access and the tasks they can work on.
Do not add someone else's Page into your portfolio in place of requesting access. If an agency or freelancer needs to manage the Page, they should request access from their own portfolio, so the business owner stays the owner of the Page.
Can you run ads as soon as the Page is created?
Technically yes, as soon as you have a Page, an ad account and a payment method. You can boost a post directly from the Page, or build a campaign in Ads Manager, which gives finer control over the objective, audience and placements. Every ad must pass review against Meta's Advertising Standards before it starts showing.
Being able to run ads and getting value from them are different things. Before you start, have at least:
- A number of real posts on the Page that show what the business sells, roughly what it costs and how to get in touch.
- A clear destination: a message to the Page, a phone call, or a web page that actually sells the product.
- Someone ready to reply to messages. If ads bring people into a chat and nobody answers, that part of the budget is wasted.
- If you measure sales on a website, Meta Pixel or the Conversions API installed first, so the system knows which ads produce results.
Illustrative example (hypothetical numbers): a bakery sets a boost budget of 300 baht a day for 7 days, 2,100 baht in total, with a messages objective. If 42 chats come in, the cost per chat is 2,100 divided by 42, or 50 baht. If 10 orders close from those chats, the cost per order is 210 baht. That figure can be compared directly against the profit per order to see whether the spend was worth it, and it is why someone must answer the chats: every unanswered chat pushes the cost per order up.
Common mistakes when creating a Page
- Only one person with full control. If that account is hacked or the person leaves, recovering the Page becomes much harder.
- Giving a freelancer full control. Full control can remove the owner from the Page. Outsiders should get partial control or task access.
- A generic Page name such as "Fashion Clothes", which breaks the Page name guidelines and gives people no brand to remember.
- Several duplicate Pages. Followers are split, and customers cannot tell which Page is the real one.
- Page details that do not match the website and LINE. Hours or phone numbers that disagree confuse customers.
What this means for businesses in Thailand
Many Thai businesses run a Facebook Page alongside a LINE Official Account. The Page helps people find the business and builds trust, while LINE is used to talk with customers who already know the brand. If the Page's main button is send message, decide whether Messenger chats will be handed over to LINE or closed inside Messenger, so customers do not have to explain themselves twice.
The Page name and details should carry both Thai and English where it matters, such as a brand name that Thai customers search for in Thai script, or a short English description for foreign customers. Special hours for public holidays, which move every year, should be updated before each holiday arrives.
Frequently asked questions about creating a Facebook Page
Does it cost money to create a Facebook Page?
No, creating a Page and managing it through Meta Business Suite is free. Costs only arise when you run ads or boost posts.
Do I need a personal profile first?
Yes, you need a Facebook account first. Meta says anyone with a Facebook account can create a Page, and the Page is managed through profiles that have Page access.
Can I change the Page name later?
Yes, someone with Facebook access can request a change under Settings > Page setup > Name. People with only task access cannot, and if the name was changed recently the option may not appear yet.
Can I create a Page in the mobile app?
Yes, but menu names and button order in the app differ from the computer version. The main steps are the same: choose to create a Page, enter the name and category, then add pictures and contact details.
Can I run ads right after creating the Page?
Technically yes, if you have an ad account and a payment method and the ad passes Meta's review. It is better to complete the Page details, set up admins and have someone ready to answer messages first, so the ad budget is not wasted.
