  • Copy a portion of the content and paste it into Google Search to see if it appears.
  • Go to Google and type “site:” followed by your website name (without the https://). For example, “site:relevantaudience.com” will show you how many pages Google has indexed on your website.
  • Go to Google and type “cache:” followed by your website name (without the https://). For example, “cache:relevantaudience.com” will allow you to check if Google has cached your website.
  • Perform a direct search by entering the URL of the page you want to check into Google Search. For example, if you recently published content on your website, enter the URL into Google to see if it’s been indexed.

“Has Google indexed this page yet?” Many website owners probably ask themselves this question frequently. To explain it simply, whether a search engine’s algorithm can find your website or not involves complex technical details. Explaining everything from the basics might put people to sleep, but in this article, we’ll break down the complicated topic of indexing into easy-to-understand terms. We’ll cover what indexing is and how to check if Google has indexed your webpage. And if Google hasn’t indexed it yet, what steps can you take to let them know? Let’s dive in!

What is Indexing and Why Should SEO Professionals Know About It?

The term “indexing” isn’t related to a famous furniture company. Instead, it’s a specific term defined as the process where a Search Engine (we’ll use Google as an example) sends out Google Bots to collect data from each page of your website and then organize that data in a database for users to search through Google Search.

If a website isn’t indexed, it means that the pages won’t be stored in the database, preventing users from finding them through Google Search. Simply put, indexing refers to creating a record of information so that users can find it through Google Search.

How Can You Tell If a Page Has Been Indexed?

Indexing issues are one of the things that many SEO specialists struggle with. Those who are just starting out in SEO often worry about whether Google has started sending Google Bots to index their webpages. If there’s no indexing, all the hard work – brainstorming content, staying up late, and tweaking the website – will be for nothing.

Therefore, checking whether your web pages have been indexed is essential. There are several ways to do this:

How to Make Bots Index Your Web Pages

It’s important to understand that Google’s bots are constantly released to check websites and create indexes. This process can take anywhere from 2-3 days to 2-3 weeks, depending on how easily Google’s system can access and verify the website’s data.

However, if several days or even weeks pass and you still feel uneasy that a particular page hasn’t been indexed, it’s time to take action to help Google discover and index the page. There are several ways to signal Google, but some methods require a certain level of SEO expertise. In this article, we’ll recommend simple methods that don’t require extensive technical knowledge. Here’s how:

  • Use the Ping method to notify Google by copying the entire URL and pasting it into the Search Bar. Then press Enter. When you see text similar to the image below, it means you’ve successfully notified Google. https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=(Enter the full URL of the page you want to notify Google about)

Now you should have a better understanding of what indexing is and why it’s important for SEO. A word of caution: those who are just starting out in SEO might think that getting Google to index your webpage will automatically boost your website’s ranking. This is a misconception. Indexing is just the first step in SEO. There are many other techniques that require time and patience to learn and experiment with. As you know, SEO results take time. It may take 3-4 weeks or even 3-4 months to see results, so be patient until the results appear.
