For working professionals, there's probably no one who hasn't heard of LinkedIn, the platform for job hunting and building a professional profile for job applications. Simply put, it's the world's number one social media platform for professional networking. Fundamentally, LinkedIn's various features are quite similar to those of other social media platforms on the market, except that its user base is focused primarily on working professionals or people looking for jobs.

For 2023, users including many marketers who use LinkedIn as their main channel for online marketing have high expectations for new features that will meet their needs and make their work more efficient. Recently, LinkedIn announced that it will be launching as many as 7 new features within 2023. Let's take a guess at what interesting things are in store. If you're ready, let's dive in.

1. Improving Video Accessibility

The trend of designing platforms for people with special needs is considered one of the important issues, with draft legislation specifically set to be enforced in Europe. As a result, organizations including LinkedIn itself, which is a platform for working professionals with a policy of creating equal job opportunities for everyone, won't miss the chance to improve various features so that all users can access them more easily. With this update, LinkedIn users will be able to enable High Contrast mode on the LinkedIn app to improve video visibility for those with visual impairments more conveniently. This also includes a feature that helps generate captions or subtitles for videos during the upload process (English only) and allows you to edit them before uploading.

2. Improving Job Titles to Be More Inclusive

Improving job searches to be more inclusive sets a new standard for LinkedIn. Previously, LinkedIn released a report supporting this, stating that in the US, most employers posted job openings that were more open to people with special needs and different, unique abilities (Accessibility), increasing by as much as 177%. Therefore, LinkedIn has improved Job Titles to have more inclusive listings, such as the positions "Accessibility Designer" or "Accessibility Engineer," so that platform users can discover new jobs that better match their own skills.

3. Adding Alt Text on Campaign Manager

Campaign Manager, the advertising platform on LinkedIn, now allows users to add Alt Text (image descriptions) to ad images. The benefit of Alt Text is not only that it helps with SEO, but it also helps visually impaired people understand the meaning of the images.

Here are some recommendations for adding Alt Text:

As we all know, LinkedIn is a networking platform for working professionals. Therefore, one of the platform's goals is to open up space to create as many new job opportunities for users as possible. A LinkedIn report stated on this matter that most users tend to look for job opportunities that align with their values and interests as a priority. Therefore, LinkedIn is currently testing a feature called Personalized Job Collections (not yet official) to help users discover jobs that better match their preferences without having to search.

LinkedIn also places importance on B2B businesses, as it recently launched the Product Pages feature, which helps users find products that match their needs. According to reports, the LinkedIn platform currently has as many as 90,000 product listings. Although the platform isn't known for E-Commerce, it must be acknowledged that the trend for most social media platforms is to be well-rounded in order to compete in attracting users. LinkedIn plans to update the Product Search feature, which will serve as a new category filter for searching products to create a better personalized experience for users.

6. Scheduling Posts via the Post Scheduling Feature

One of the features that users and marketers alike have been eagerly awaiting is LinkedIn allowing you to set time frames and plan posts in advance through the Post Scheduling feature. There will be a "Schedule" button next to the Post button, and users can select the day and time they want to share, and edit as needed.

7. Content Analytics Feature

Nowadays, insight data is considered an indispensable necessity, whether you're a general user, a marketer, a brand, or anyone who wants to improve the performance of their own content. Therefore, access to data that helps evaluate content performance has become an urgent necessity for every social media platform.

Likewise, LinkedIn is updating its dashboard to help users analyze various in-depth insights to improve content for the highest possible performance. This will only be available for accounts that have enabled Creator Mode.

Final Thoughts

So what do you think of these LinkedIn features for 2023? As we all know, this period is considered a competitive war among social media platforms that must gradually roll out new features to attract users as well as various brands. For anyone using LinkedIn as one of your work channels, you can get yourself ready now.
