Google has released version 2.13 of Google Ads Editor, its free desktop app for bulk campaign management. Search Engine Roundtable reported on 27 July 2026 that the release contains 17 new features and removes one older one. The additions include AI Max support for Shopping campaigns, a Performance Max customer retention goal, dedicated branding fields for video ads, and classic display asset support in Demand Gen. Version 2.13 also retires the ability to create new Video Action campaigns. Editor 2.12 shipped in March 2026.
One caveat on sourcing: the official Google release-notes page for 2.13 could not be located, so the feature list here comes from Search Engine Roundtable's reporting rather than from a first-party announcement.
What is in Google Ads Editor 2.13
AI Max reaches Shopping campaigns
Editor 2.13 brings AI Max support to Shopping campaigns. For anyone managing product-driven accounts offline, this is the item that changes daily work most, because Shopping settings applied one campaign at a time in the web interface are slow to maintain at scale.
Connected TV opt-in via a recommendation
The release adds full support for the "Show your ads on TV screens" recommendation. Applying it opts campaigns back into connected TV inventory by resetting bid adjustments that were previously overridden. Read that mechanic carefully before applying it in bulk. A recommendation that resets overridden bid adjustments will undo deliberate work if the override was there on purpose.
Business name and logo fields for video ads
Responsive Video ads and Non-skippable video ads now have dedicated "Business name" and "Business logo" fields in the properties panel. Brand assets that previously had to be handled elsewhere can now be set in the same place as the rest of the ad.
Classic display assets in Demand Gen
Demand Gen image ads gained support for "Classic display assets" using standard image dimensions. Google frames this as easing the migration of legacy Display campaigns into Demand Gen, which matters for anyone still holding banner sets built to standard IAB sizes.
Performance Max customer retention goal
Coverage of the release also lists a customer retention goal for Performance Max, alongside the new-customer settings PMax already carries.
One removal: new Video Action campaigns
Editor 2.13 removes the ability to create new Video Action campaigns. Anyone with a build process that still starts from that campaign type needs a different starting point.
Why Editor releases matter more than they look
Google Ads Editor is where bulk-editing capability catches up with the web interface. A setting that exists only in the browser has to be changed campaign by campaign. Once it lands in Editor, a change can be drafted offline, checked before it goes live, and pushed across an account in one action.
That gap is the reason Editor version numbers are worth watching. Between 2.12 in March 2026 and 2.13 now, the settings that arrived in the web UI have been UI-only work for anyone running many campaigns. This release closes part of that gap for Shopping and video.
What to do with the update
- Update the app before your next bulk edit. Editor versions do not upgrade themselves in the background.
- Download the account fresh after updating, so new fields appear in the properties panel.
- Check the TV screens recommendation before applying it anywhere. It resets overridden bid adjustments, and some of those overrides exist for a reason.
- Audit which campaigns still depend on Video Action before you need to build a new one.
Bulk edits carry bulk risk. Editor's advantage is that changes are staged locally and can be reviewed before posting, so use that review step rather than typing and pushing in one motion. For accounts where Google Ads management spans dozens of campaigns, a bad bulk post takes longer to unwind than it took to make.
What this means for Thai marketers
Offline bulk editing pays off most in accounts with large SKU-driven Shopping structures, where per-campaign work in the browser is the main time sink. Retail and marketplace accounts in Thailand often carry product feeds far larger than their campaign count suggests, and the maintenance cost of those feeds sits mostly in repetitive settings changes rather than in strategy.
AI Max settings for Shopping arriving in Editor removes some of that repetition. The video branding fields matter for a different reason: Thai video campaigns often run with brand assets managed by a separate team, and having business name and logo in the same panel as the ad reduces the number of handoffs. For ecommerce accounts and for teams running YouTube ads at volume, this is a maintenance release worth installing rather than an optional one.
Common questions
Is Google Ads Editor free?
Yes. It is Google's free desktop application for managing Google Ads accounts offline and posting changes in bulk.
Do I have to update?
Older versions keep working for a while, but new fields and campaign settings do not appear until you update. If a setting is missing from the properties panel, the version is usually the reason.
What happened to Video Action campaigns?
Version 2.13 removes the ability to create new ones in Editor. The reporting does not describe any change to campaigns already running.
Where are the official release notes?
Search Engine Roundtable's report is the source used here. An official Google release-notes page for 2.13 could not be located at the time of writing.
Next step
Install the update, pull a fresh copy of the account, and look at the properties panel before planning any bulk change. If your account structure has grown to the point where every settings change is a day of clicking, that is a structure problem as much as a tooling one, and Relevant Audience can review it with you.
