TikTok Launches Sounds for Business, Enabling Marketers to Utilize It

Anyone who regularly uses TikTok can’t deny that behind the platform’s success lies the playful content elements of sound effects and music that are fun on the platform. It can create another world for users with the power of sound. Recently, TikTok, the popular social media platform, has announced the launch of Sound for Business, a collaboration with Elias Audio Branding, a company within Universal Production Music, to assist marketers and brands by allowing them to create various content using templates consisting of music, voiceovers, and other copyrighted materials. TikTok will curate suitable sounds to help businesses of all sizes create content quickly, efficiently, and spark more creativity. You can select it conveniently through the TikTok Audio Library. Why is Sound Important on TikTok?

According to a study by TikTok, 68% of users on the platform can remember “messages” from brand communications more easily if the content has favorite sound effects, and 62% of those who like the sounds in the content will spend more time learning about the brand.

This reflects the importance of sound. Therefore, anyone who is a marketer or brand using TikTok as an online marketing channel must pay attention to the “sound” that will be used to compose the content because it is like an important speech that helps spark people’s interest in the brand’s communication.

How to Use Commercial Use Audio

For desktop users, TikTok users can select copyrighted sound effects by going to TikTok’s Audio Library in the Creative Center. Then, tick the TikTok Commercial Use option on the left. Then, you can select filters to filter for various sounds as needed.

Once selected, you can go to the TikTok Video Editor to create content as desired.

When using TikTok on mobile devices (iOS), after selecting a video and uploading it, tap “Add Sound,” then tap the magnifying glass icon, select Commercial Sound, and you can select the sounds you want that are suitable for the content immediately.

What Happens If You Choose to Use Copyrighted Music?

According to the platform’s Community Guideline or basic terms, TikTok has the right to remove the sound or sound effects immediately without having to notify the user. In case the clip is removed from the sound, the user can choose a new background music.
