Google Ads Editor is a versatile tool used for managing Google Ads, from general tasks like keyword selection, budget setting, and location changes, to deeper and more complex settings such as targeting expansion and demographic age range adjustments.

When managing Google Ads for large clients with multiple services or clients from various companies simultaneously, we often face the need to make numerous adjustments concurrently and frequently. For example, when a New Year promotion ends, we need to remove it from the ad text or simply replace it, such as changing ‘Free shipping on orders over 1500 baht’ to ‘Free shipping on orders over 1000 baht.’ If we have to change each item individually, there is a risk of errors that could lead to damage. Therefore, Google has created a convenient and free tool for us to use: Google Ads Editor.

This tool can do many things quickly. Today, I will talk about the uses that I find beneficial and help save time in work. First, let’s discuss

Changing the Final URL of Image ads or Banners. From my experience, sometimes clients have promotional pages, requiring us to change the Final URL of all Image ads. However, the website lacks a function to help with this, forcing us to manually change each one, which takes several hours. But if you use Google Ads Editor, all you need to do is select all the image ads and manage to change the Final URL, then upload. It only takes a few minutes.

Another advantage is that when we edit or improve something, such as adjusting bids or adding keywords, we can check what we have modified or added. It will highlight what has been added, allowing us to easily summarize what we did in the edit and ensure accuracy. This is especially important when managing multiple campaigns, as there is a chance of making mistakes, such as entering the wrong keyword into an ad group or accidentally pressing one too many zeros, resulting in a bid of 300 baht instead of 30 baht.

Creating new campaigns takes less time. Sometimes, we only want to separate countries from the original selection, such as the USA and Canada. Later, we want to use different budgets, so we need to create another campaign. What you need to do in Google Ads Editor is simply copy and paste. You’ll have a new campaign ready, and you can change the name and location. All of this takes less than 3 minutes.

Another important point is that sometimes campaigns have many components, requiring multiple people to help manage the advertising. However, this can lead to confusion and errors due to simultaneous edits. Using Google Ads Editor helps address this because each edit occurs through uploading, unlike gradually clicking changes on the website. This reduces confusion and makes it easier to see who made what changes in the change history, as the list is shorter.
