Update! Google Travel Pleases Hotel Operators with Free Advertising

The pandemic forced the global tourism industry to face a major challenge, but right now the signs of a worldwide travel recovery are starting to expand and grow. This is evident from the statistics on various Search Engines, where terms like “Flights to Hawaii” or “Spring Vacation” are appearing more and more often.

Of course, for hotel business operators, what could be better than travelers starting to spend on tourism and hotel stays again? And right now, the good news for the global tourism industry is  that Google has updated a new tool to please hotel operators, making hotel searches much easier. What will this new update look like? Reach New Customers on Google for Free

Following the launch of the Free Hotel Booking Links feature on https://www.google.com/travel/ last year, in this latest update Google stated that “the Free Hotel Booking Links feature can now appear through the Search Result Page and Google Maps.” Google believes this will help hotel operators expand their reach to more consumers, while at the same time giving consumers more comprehensive choices. 

Since the launch of the Free Booking Links feature back in 2021, hotel booking volumes have increased significantly, especially for small hotels through to large online travel agencies. For a free feature like this, Google therefore decided to expand its display even further, which turns out to be a great thing for small hotel operators who may see increased revenue. However, this free advertising display does differ slightly from paid advertising, because the display ranking is not based on the Ad Auction system but instead uses Google's own algorithm to determine the ranking. Of course, there is no additional charge whatsoever.

You can view the Click Report directly through the Hotel Center. However, Google added that it will be expanding other in-depth reporting data, including Link Impressions and Booking Value, very soon for certain.

With this update, hotel operators can share their rates and available rooms on Google much more easily, without any of the cumbersome requirements that operators previously had to deal with. Starting next month, every hotel that meets Google's criteria will be granted the right to fill in their information in Google Business Profile to access the Free Hotel Booking Links feature immediately. However, if any hotel operator would like more information to help with filling in their details, they can complete Google's form through the Interest Form

Because travelers' various concerns are one of the key factors in deciding whether or not to stay at a particular hotel, in order to eliminate these concerns, hotel operators must not forget to pay as much attention as possible to these sensitive details. With Google continuing to open up more and more free advertising space, this is good news for small companies that have been affected over the past two years. Of course, if any hotel operator does not have much of a budget but wants their hotel's advertising to appear on the Search Result Page and Google Hotel Search, they can now do so for free.
