Did you know that, besides searching for information on a Search Engine using text, you can also search using an “image” to find information related to that image as well!

Imagine you are a blogger or marketer writing an article for a website, and you need to use images to add depth to the content of that article. Of course, using someone else’s image in an ethical way always requires citation or giving credit. The question is, “How do you know where this image originally came from, or who the original creator is?”  Or even when it comes to the problem of encountering Fake News, which keeps increasing day by day and creates confusion, alarm, and anxiety among the general public, tracing the source of the facts has become an important matter. In this article, we will introduce a technique called Reverse Image Search that will help solve all of these problems. We can guarantee that as soon as you finish reading, you can put it into practice right away.

What Is Reverse Image Search?

“Reverse Image Search,” or simply put, “searching for an image in reverse,” is definitely not as complicated as many people think.  Instead of searching for information by typing text or keywords as usual, you switch to using an image to search instead, in order to obtain various in-depth insights, such as

From all of these benefits, the searcher is able to explore the in-depth details of an image, which can be useful in many situations.

Why Should You Use Reverse Image Search

Using the Reverse Image Search technique not only makes it fun to play the role of a social media detective, but it also has many benefits in other situations as well, whether it is used to

  • Search for the facts about an image (verify fake news)
  • Track copyright infringement of an image, in the case that you are the owner of the image
  • Find the reference source of an image, in the case that you want to use it in your article

Sometimes searching for an image may not produce the results you were hoping for, because the cause may come from the source website of that image, which may have configured the website structure to prevent Google’s algorithm from Indexing the image into the database. Therefore, you must understand that not every image on a Search Engine can be checked.
