llms.txt is a proposed plain text file at a site's root that gives AI systems a curated, easy-to-parse guide to a site's most important content, conceptually similar to robots.txt or a sitemap but aimed at large language models.

Adoption is still early and support from major AI providers is not guaranteed, but it is a low-cost, forward-looking signal for sites that want to be legible to AI crawlers. Treat it as an emerging best practice rather than a confirmed ranking factor.
